Why We Lie

"I'm fine and dandy" is the lie
we keep telling eachother as we cry
hidden away behind emails and letters,
COping with past hurts and angers.

It's the strangest mystery
how Present pays Past's debtors.
Why do we punish through today
for what was done yesterday?

Hide behind the veil or mask,
an all consuming little task,
but if it gets us through for now
why not, this lie, for just allow?
